*extended*The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Office in Greece, seeks a candidate to work as Public Awareness/Anti-Racist Campaign Assistant (UNOPS/ICA)
Contract period: 09/09/2015 to 31/12/2015, full-time, under a UNOPS Individual Contractor Agreement, with possibility for extension.
Duty Station: Athens
Remuneration Package: UNOPS terms and conditions.
Tasks: The incumbent will be based at the premises of the UNHCR Office in Greece and will support the work of the Comm/Public Information Unit of UNHCR Greece, especially with regard to the campaign against racism/xenophobia and the production of human interest stories. The incumbent shall work under the overall supervision of the Comm/PI Officer and in close co-operation with the Comm/PI Associate of UNHCR Greece.
The Consultant will perform the following duties and activities:
- Support the revamp of UNHCR’s anti-racist campaign
- Maintain and update UNHCR’s bi-lingual (GR & EN) anti-racist platform
(1againstracism.gr) on a daily basis
- Produce new original material, including interviews, videos, photos, features and stories, to support the campaign
- Promote to media and enhance digital presence of the campaign
- Identify and draft human interest stories
- Provide assistance with regard to the organization of public information events
- Manage the contacts lists
- Perform other relevant duties
The incumbent may be required to travel to border or other areas, as needed, to cover human interest stories and/or produce original material for the anti-racist campaign.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree, preferably in Communications, Journalism, or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of previous relevant work experience; work experience with an international organization is an asset
- Excellent knowledge of Greek and English
- Excellent communication and drafting skills
- Ability to work in a team and in a multi-cultural environment
- Strong computer and internet skills
- Very good knowledge of new digital communication technologies
- Photography/video skills are an asset
