Call for participants - Training on Quality Assurance of Non-Formal Education
25-29 September 2013
University of Youth and Development, Mollina, Spain
The European Youth Forum will be offering a training on Quality Assurance of Non-Formal Education in youth organisations. The event will be held from 25-29 September in Mollina, Spain, in the framework of the 14th edition of the University of Youth and Development.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
The aim of this training is to build the capacity of youth organisations in assuring quality of their educational projects through the Quality Assurance Framework for Non-Formal Education (NFE) developed by the European Youth Forum.
The objectives of the training are the following:
• To introduce participants to the Quality Assurance Process developed by the Forum: its rationale, key elements and its contribution to the recognition of NFE and to quality education.
• To equip participants with the necessary competences to implement the QA framework for NFE through the development of quality indicators and the provision of peer-review and feedback.
• To develop participants’ competences to share the learning outcomes with their colleagues in their organisations, as well as to promote and support the implementation of the QA framework in future NFE projects/activities.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
By the end of the training, participants will be capable of implementing the Quality Assurance Framework for NFE in their projects. They will also be able to explain how Quality Assurance contributes to quality education and to recognition of NFE in youth organisations.
As follow up to the training, participants will be invited to volunteer to become peers in the QA Framework as facilitated by the Forum through its online platform (further details will be provided during the course).
PROGRAMME
The programme of the training will cover the main elements of the Quality Assurance Framework for NFE developed by the Forum since 2008. The training will combine both theoretical and practical sessions on how to implement the framework in NFE projects/activities in youth organisations.
Contrary to the way in which the previous QA training cycles were organised in the past, this training will not be necessarily linked to a particular NFE project cycle of an organisation nor a group of organisations. It will provide a comprehensive overview of how to implement the QA framework in any given NFE project, from the initial “kick-off” phase to the final phase of peer-feedback and assessment of the quality assurance process. Participants will then be invited to put in practice the learning outcomes of the training in the framework for their organisation, according to their specific needs and timeline.
Guest speakers will be invited to share their experience on the topic and relate it to the wider processes on quality education and recognition of NFE projects.
In addition to the training sessions, participants will be invited to participate in the sessions activities that are part of the joint programme of the University, i.e., activities aimed at bringing together participants from all the events run at the University to further explore the common theme of the University while offering a unique space to network. The theme of this year’s University is “Democratic Citizenship”.
METHODOLOGY
The training will use participatory, interactive and hands-on methods. The Manual on the Quality Assurance Framework for NFE recently developed by the Forum will be used to support the training. Copies will be provided to participants. The Manual can be downloaded from the following link: http://issuu.com/yomag/docs/nfeqa_manual_single
Experienced trainers of the Pool of Trainers and Facilitators of the European Youth Forum will be responsible for accompanying participants through the learning process. Guest speakers and representatives of the Youth Forum will also support the training.
