The Global Human Rights Leadership Training Institute is still accepting applications for the 2012 Edition of the following online distance learning courses:

1.  Certificate Course on Gender and Development, [13th September – 12th October, 2012].

Course Description:

This course is designed to prompt an exploration of common behaviours and attitudes towards gender differences. It will present facts and figures about the situation of women and men in our society today – and references from key documents that highlight policies formulated to address gender concerns. Course Fee: US$300. There is a limited number of partial scholarships available for applicants from developing countries, based on financial need.

2. Certificate Course on Effective Grant Proposal Writing [5th September – 28th September, 2012]

Course Description:

The course is designed for both novice and experienced grantseekers, it is a comprehensive, hands-on training that covers researching funding sources and writing award winning proposals. Other topics covered include: defining objectives, researching and getting to know the donor; how to prepare a logical framework analysis (LFA); preparing budgets; and how to follow up with the donor. 3. Online Certificate Course on Human Rights Leadership Development [18th September – 26th October 2012]

Course Description:

The course will equip participants with skills for better understanding of the concepts of human rights learning and leadership development. This course will also provide the participants with a concrete ‘step-by-step’ approach including hints and guidelines for developing and implementing a successful human rights project in their organisation and communities.

4. Certificate Course on Mainstreaming Gender into Project Cycle Management [20th September – 19th October 2012]

Course Description:

This five (5) weeks course will equip the participants with the basic concepts of gender, knowledge of and practical skills to gender mainstreaming in Project cycle Management so that they can ensure that gender is incorporated throughout the project cycle stage from formulation to monitoring and evaluation. This course will equip and empower participants with enhanced designing and management tools to tailor projects more adequately to meet the needs of the beneficiaries. It builds up a clear body of theory, understanding and skills for each stage, so that by the end of the course participants have a clear competence across all stages of the cycle.

This course seeks to fill gaps in practical guidance in gender mainstreaming in disaster risk management at the local and community level. It will further strengthen the participants’ knowledge and skills in integrating gender in the concepts and practices of CBDRM.
